GLOBAL CHALLENGES
Somalia Campaign
Problem: Fighting in Somalia has intensified recently and the alarming rise in conflict has had the most profound effect upon the vulnerable Somalian children. Use of children in armed conflict not only violates their rights but additionally exposes them to other risks including violence, exploitation, abuse and death. In 2018, 2,300 Somali children, some as young as 8, were recruited into armed forces and groups. The psycho-social impacts of warfare on children are severe. Child soldiers are often left frightened, traumatised and desensitised to violence, and the long-term effects of the practice on Somali society could be devastating.
Researching this ongoing tragedy had an emotional impact on me and I wanted to heighten the awareness of the plight and encourage reintegration of child soldiers back into society ensuring a better future.

Solution: An emotive campaign series to encourage the rally for government aid to combat the use of children for military purpose. My campaign aims to highlight the immediate action needed to reintegrate child soldiers into society and calls for an end to the use of minors in armed conflict.
